The Real Aeroplane Club welcomes visitors by air, classic or vintage aircraft in particular.
The airfield itself is 5.5 nm north-east of Selby and located in the south west corner of what was once RAF Breighton. The original concrete runways are no longer used but are still visible from the air. Vickers Wellington, Handley Page Halifax and Avro Lancaster bombers attacked targets across occupied Europe from Breighton during the war with many crews failing to return. A memorial has been established on the airfield adjacent the Real Aeroplane Company crewroom to honour those personnel who fought bravely during the Second World War.
The radio frequency is 129.805 MHz.
Breighton has a single grass runway 10/28 which is 802 metres (2,631') long. All circuits should be flown to the south of the airfield at 1,000 ft. Please avoid the villages of Bubwith, Breighton and Wressle to the north-west and south-west respectively. Join on the south side of the airfield for base leg. Please be aware of the power cables on the western approach.
Our normal operating hours 09.00-17.00 hrs - Winter 09.00-17.00 hrs or sunset if earlier. Self service 100LL and Avtur are available, card payments only.
Please help Breighton to remain good neighbours by observing the guidelines set out in our Pooleys Guide page.
